Help!

Does anyone know how to regain a lost voice? Mine is slowly registering deeper and deeper into the abyss. My cold has tramsmogrified. I don't start teaching until next week, so I'm trying not to use my throat much, but... Husband says that if I speak and he's not looking at me that it startles him because I sound so unlike myself. And I will of course go to the doctor if it doesn't heal soon, but really I'd like to avoid that since she or he will just say "rest and drink tea."
